Tournament Pool Information
| |
The
pool system gives more wrestlers the chance to wrestle
in more matches. In our system, each division and
weight group will be divided into 4 pools of wrestlers,
seeded according to the attached criteria. In a
perfect scenario, we would have 4 pools of 4 wrestlers.
However, chances of a perfect scenario are not great, so
we are planning on variations to meet the needs of the
tournament.
If 5
wrestlers, or less, are in a pool, standard 5-Man,
4-Man, 3-Man, and Round-Robin rules will be applied.
When there are more than 5 wrestlers in a pool, each
wrestler will wrestle a minimum of three opponents in
his pool.

Pool winners and runners-up will be determined by the
following criteria, where applicable:
1)
Most wins
2) Head
to Head
3) Total
Pool Points (points as specified below)
7
pts – pin
6 pts – tech
5 pts – major
4 pts – decision
3 pts – getting decisioned
2 pts – getting majored
1 pt – getting teched
0 pts – getting pinned
4) Most
falls
5) Least
total fall time
6) Most
match points – Because (in pools with an odd number of
competitors) some wrestlers get a 4th match,
that final match points will not be counted. Only
the first 3 matches wrestled will be counted for
advancement to the final rounds.
7) Wrestle-off
between two wrestlers with identical wins and points,
with no head to head.
Wrestling
will be on 8 full size mats for all Division V, High
School matches. Divisions 1 & 2 will wrestle on ¼
mats through the pools rounds, and Divisions 3 & 4 will
wrestle on ½ mats through the pool rounds.
Divisions I, II, III, and IV will wrestle on ½ mats for
the finals, with some full mats as numbers allow.
